Poker How to host a home game Hosting a successful game of poker can sometimes become a tricky task. First and formost on your list should be supplies. You will need a table (of course), chips, and preferably an unopened deck of cards. Any type of table will work as long as it is large enough to seat you and your friends comfortably, and the cards can slide easily across it.
Prior to the arrival of your guests set out your snacks and have your drinks mixed and chilled, turn on the tunes and your ready to play. Since you are the host it is your responsibility to determine the buy-in and the pay-out . For example you might want to consider payout to the top three players remaining in the game. Your scale could be 50% to the highest, 30% to the second, and 20% for the third. Then decide on the deal, do you want to pass the deal around the table or pick one dealer for the entire evening. Make sure all players know the rules before you begin play and stick to them. That way there will be no hard feelings at the end.
Above all else have fun, remember this is an evening with your buddies try to keep the game friendly. Good food, good music, and good company, all make for a good night out and a great game. Consider taking turns on hosting and make it a weekly event. Paying a little attention to detail will ensure that you and your guests have an evening that is not only fun but will be remembered by all. |
