In the US marriages are like days in the week, it comes and it goes. The reason for this is because of the culture that allows having unhappy marriages to be discontinued. With the liberated frame of mind that if someone's no longer happy with the married environment they are situated in then there's no reason for both parties to go on suffering. It's only for the best interest of the parties involved. And because of the majority of Americans have this frame of mind and with laws on divorces in active implementation in the American Constitution there are cities that actually take advantage of this and make it a profitable industry.
When a couple says that “we just got married in Vegas or we just got hitched in one of those churches in Vegas”, the idea itself of Las Vegas weddings immediately connotes that some time in the future they are going to get themselves “unhitched” because it's not actually a “real” wedding. Las Vegas wedding chapels are known for the number of people that actually come to get married on a single day. Las Vegas wedding chapels or most of them operate and get people married on a 24-hour basis making Las Vegas weddings the most in number for a day.
On an average the people that have themselves hitched in Las Vegas wedding chapels in a single day is almost double than the protestant church has and almost triple than that of the Mormons. So if we look at it closely Las Vegas weddings are better preferred than that of any other religion or sect because there are less papers to fill up, less time for preparation and all you need is for the couple to decide that they do want to be hooked up but they don't want the commitment to last as long as they do. And luckily Las Vegas has put laws in place for churches like these and made sure that people will have to pay taxes for the services. So even if they don't actually spend the rest of their lives stuck with the person they thought they'd spend forever with, they will still pay the government for wasting a perfectly good piece of paper to have their marriage license and certificate printed. Trees are precious you know...
Las Vegas wedding chapels come in all sorts. It's not just the Protestant church that offers their 24-hour wedding services in the long lines of Las Vegas wedding chapels, Jewish , Adventist, Lutheran, Mormons and so on, there are even special churches for Atheists and pagans and even star worshipers or the astrology religion. Las Vegas wedding chapels have been the Mecca of celebrities both famous and the has-beens to have them and their significant others to tie the knot. Las Vegas wedding chapels have become witness to a lot of these celebrity secret weddings like that of Britney Spears. And because of the notoriety of Las Vegas' wedding chapels a lot of these weddings have turned into overnight scandals and got the city of Vegas in the hot seat for as long as people can remember.
So, if you ever meet the love of your life and would not want to have them leave you just like that, bet hitched in Vegas and if you're not satisfied well, there's always a next time. |
